St. Lawrence Faith Formation News

Registration for all our Faith Formation programs begins next weekend, July 31st and August 1st.  Join us in the Sister Mary Cecile Room in the lower level for refreshments. Catechists will be available with forms and to answer questions after all of the Masses.  Forms will also be available on our parish website at Faith Formation Registraction Form  and on the table in the back of church.                                        

Program Information:

·         K-12 Religious Education

Classes begin Sept.12th.  Classes will be held between the two Sunday Masses from 9:35-10:50am.  NEW THIS YEAR!!!!!  High School Religious Education (grades 9-12) –this is NOT Confirmation class!!!  Required Parents’ Meeting: Sunday September 12th at approximately 9:35 in the front of church-This is the first day of class.  We will start with parents, teachers, and students together.  After welcome and teacher introductions, the teachers will take the students to their classrooms and the parents’ meeting will continue.

·         Confirmation preparation

Classes for new candidates will begin September 12th from 6:30pm-8:30pm.  Classes will be held the second Sunday of the month.  This program is open to students entering 8th grade-high school.  Required Parents’ Meeting for new candidates: Sunday, August 29th at 2pm in the Father Kasper Room in the lower level of the church.  (Candidates from last year’s class will resume on the 12th as well.  No registration needed.)

·         RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults- Non-Catholic Spouses encouraged to attend)

This process is “designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts”.  The first stage of this process is referred to as the Precatechumenate or “inquiry” period which means that your questions will be answered before you make your final decision to freely become Catholic.  Classes will be held on Wednesday nights, beginning September 8th from 7pm-8:30pm in the Father Kasper room in the lower level of the Church.  These classes take place weekly until the end of the Easter season.      

·         RCIA for Children (“RCIC”)

This program is for children/teens which is an adapted form of the RCIA.  These candidates will meet on Sunday morning between the two Masses from 9:35-10:50 following the same schedule as K-12 Religious Education. These classes will begin Sept. 12th.
